Delving into the world of martial arts

Growing older, my fear of trying new things intensifies. Luckily, four years ago when I was in my 30-ish, I started delving into the world of martial arts as a newbie. Little did I know that this decision would yield numerous physical and mental benefits beyond my expectations.

Physically, my endurance has soared, my muscles have become more resilient. Every day, I earn a surge of healthy dopamine through exercise (so-called “feel-good-hormone”). The most valuable thing I’ve learnt is patience. Rome wasn’t built in a day, and the same applies to martial arts training. It requires years of dedicated practice, and repeating movements countless times to engrain them as reflexes in the brain.

Martial arts teach me invaluable lessons of discipline, resilience, perseverance and empower me to practise Kaizen philosophy – continuous improvement.
