SCAO Yangon provides scholarship for Japanese university entrance exam preparation class

14 December 2023
Yangon, Myanmar

The Japan-Myanmar relationship is steeped in history and continues to be of significant importance to both nations. Nowadays, Japan has become a sought-after destination for higher education among Myanmar youths, often seen as a study El Dorado due to its advanced education system, cutting-edge research opportunities, and cultural richness. The Myanmar Association of Japan Alumni (MAJA) plays a crucial role in supporting these students’ dreams by offering preparation classes for the Examination for Japanese University Admission (EJU).

To support the academic aspirations of these young individuals in Myanmar, SCAO Yangon and Nay Pyi Taw Office provided scholarships to 142 students in the EJU preparation classes through MAJA programmes. On 14 December 2023, 4 representatives from SCAO Yangon office led by Office GM Mr Tomoyasu Shimizu visited MAJA training centre, and held a face-to-face exchange and scholarship award session with the students, which will help to cover facilities and operational fees for one examination term.

We sincerely believe that this modest contribution can address the educational challenges faced by Myanmar youths, who are poised to become a vital “bridge” between Myanmar and Japan in the future.
