SCTL 100SEED – Button Up, an Activity Based Learning with Students

Contributed by SCTL 100SEED Committee

SCTL launched 3 sub-projects (Button Up, Power Up and Light Up) under 100SEED programme which aims to develop education from upstream to downstream in Angthong, one of the central province of Thailand. Button Up is a one-day activity-based learning programme, which aims to promote equity and quality of education for elementary and secondary school students.

On 16 December 2020, 20 SCTL volunteers participated with the students at Wat Rung School in activities such as workshops, group assignments and presentations. The workshops conducted were soap making for promoting good hygiene during COVID-19 pandemic, knowledge on how to use common household medication and waste segregation. Through such activities, we endeavour to help the students develop 21st century crucial skills such as Communication, Critical Thinking, Collaboration and Creativity.

Besides these activities, SCTL also donated school equipment such as water pump, water dispenser, science lab tables, sport equipment etc., which are considered as basic needs for students at the Wat Rung School. Other than these, SCTL also donated funds to the school to improve their facilities such as renovating current restrooms and building new ones, and refurbishment of their library.

We anticipate that this Button Up programme could benefit up to 350 students in 2 schools, including around 50 staff’s active engagement each year.
