Japan Vietnam Festival is one of the biggest physical events in Vietnam. This year, it was held with appropriate measures for COVID-19 including connecting with Tokyo via TV conference. Japan Ambassador Takio Yamada and Vietnamese former President Trương Tấn Sang joined the opening ceremony onsite while Mr Tsutomu Takebe, Special Advisor to the Japan-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentary Alliance (JVFPA) joined virtually.

Many Vietnamese and Japanese who live in Vietnam came and had a great time at this event. Although the number of visitors has decreased compared to the previous year (2019), the number of exhibiting companies remained unchanged.  Many Japanese companies such as Sojitz, Acecook, Yamaha and Alsok etc set up booths while many artists performed on stage.

SC Tokyo also sponsored the event and showcased SC Group activities in Vietnam to citizens who were interested in Japan through our booth. We distributed brochures of SC Group companies in Vietnam and sold More Production’s Ehon (children picture books translated into Vietnamese) at a reasonable price. 400 picture books were sold out within 2 days. The Vietnamese version of SC group introduction leaflets (100 sheets) were distributed in 2 days too.

This time around, a total of 13 colleagues comprising 4 rotating staff and 9 non-rotating staff from SCVN Ho Chi Minh office participated as volunteers.  This was a good opportunity to deepen their understanding on CSR activities and contribute back to the society.
