On 15 September 2021, SCTL arranged a virtual seminar for university students. This was the 3rd year that SCTL had arranged a Power Up project, helping university students to cross the border from student life to their new chapter in life as working adults.
The topic for this year is “SHAPING THE NEXT NORMAL FOR CAREER SUCCESS”. The guest speaker was “Techsauce” the leading source of all tech and business news in Thailand and Southeast Asia. Our target participants were 200 university students but due to overwhelming responses, the turnout was 310! We have received many wonderful feedback from our participants after the seminar. They expressed their appreciation for this valuable seminar that enabled them to have a clearer picture of the real working world.

Despite the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, SCTL continues to arrange activities under the Light Up project to increase qualified teachers to support the development of education in Thailand. For FY2021, SCTL launched 3 activities to develop and reinforce the teachers’ knowledge, skills and teaching techniques in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) education.
- Volunteer Training: On 13 September 2021, we conducted a preparation session for 20 SCTL volunteers to build their inspiration and capacity to support the Light Up project.
- Teachers Professional Development Training: On 21-23 September 2021, we arranged an online active math training for 35 teachers from Extended Opportunity Schools in Ang-Thong province. 20 SCTL volunteers also participated in the training session by sharing and discussing the need for 21st century skills in the workplace.
- Professional Learning Community: We will be arranging 2 rounds of hands-on mentoring in November and December 2021. The volunteers will observe the classroom demonstration and provide constructive feedback to the teachers.

Despite these difficult times, we strived to take adaptive steps towards education improvement under the big constraints. We believe that people are the most valuable resources especially for next generation, and that continuous encouragement for the young generation are still the key drivers to create a better tomorrow for our society.
On 7 September 2021, SCTL held a virtual open house to welcome university students under a programme called “Global Study”, an educational global social growth project by National Federation of University Co-operative Associations (NFUCA). Over 60 students, both Japanese and Thai participated in this open house. The theme of the programme was “How do you prepare yourself to work in a global company with an aim to enrich lives and the world?” Besides introduction of our global businesses and SHIFT 2023, students also learnt about cross-cultural communication, judgement, coordination, presentation and leadership skills through this activity. Together with the management, we also received support from both BUs and CU to participate in the programme and actively share their opinions and experiences with students.
