Singapore – Salted Egg
The salted egg, duck egg preserved in salt solution, is nothing new to most areas in Asia. However, in Singapore our love for salted eggs takes it to a whole new level. Its rich orange colour and savoury-sweet umami allows you to eat with your eyes before putting it into your mouth.
Salted eggs are commonly found in savoury dishes, usually stir fried with seafood, chicken wings or served as dips/sauces to go with fries, waffles, salads…etc. But do you know that you can also find salted egg desserts in Singapore, from tarts, lava cakes, French toast, croissants, macaron to even ice cream?

Singapore’s strange love for salted egg!
