Indonesia
The local government of Nusa Tenggara Barat Province aims to develop Nusa Tenggara Barat Province into a future Green & Digital Economy. Nusa Tenggara Barat Province is located in the eastern side of Java and Bali Island. NTB Province consists of 2 main islands namely Lombok Island which is being developed as a second Bali, and the other one is Sumbawa Island, where the Newmont Batu Hijau mine is located. NTB Province has a population about 5 million. It is a state with resources such as tourism, fisheries, agriculture, livestock, and mining.
On 8 January 2022, SSRI President Mr Hiroshi Karashima and three other members visited Nusa Tenggara Barat Province to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the government and local partner company Gas Strategies Indonesia (GSI) with the aim of considering projects to promote the regional economy.
In agriculture, the province is Indonesia’s leading producer of rice and corn. In the fisheries industry, lobsters are farmed and sold wholesale to Bali. In the livestock industry, beef cattle production is the main industry, but there are some parts that are not efficient and there is a large room for growth. In addition, it has been found that there are vast areas where mangroves (which absorb more carbon than other trees) can be planted, and our company is considering how to implement CSR activities and realise environmental contributions.
In the future, SSRI will consider commercialization in cooperation with related departments within the company.
