Hello from SCOP!

Sumitomo Corporation of the Philippines (SCOP)’s office is located in the business district of Metro Manila surrounded by the bustling streets of Makati City – a location where you can experience both work and play! We have a total of 27 employees comprising of 20 Filipino national staff and 7 Japanese expatriates. Let’s take a glimpse of this small community.
Employees’ Favourite Office Spot!
Among all places in SCOP office, there is a spot where employees enjoy, or feel relaxed.
That is the pantry!
Aside from the aroma of coffee and different kinds of food you can smell from time to time, the view from this spot is to die for and probably one of the advantages being located at the higher floor (SCOP office is situated at the 35th floor). You can always see the clear or gloomy skies and tall buildings when having your lunch or breakfast here.

The faces of SCOP!
Each office cannot function and deliver its operations without the help and support of its employees. Meet the three departments that make up the SCOP Office.
The Superhero of SCOP
Tagged as the “Superhero of SCOP” is one of our wonderful expatriates, Mr Masanori Honda, the General Manager of SCOP’s Infrastructure Department.
Honda san is known to be very shy and a man of few words. But do not be fooled! Beyond the timid demeanour is a man who brought many success stories in the realm of Infrastructure business not just in SCOP but in the Philippines! He is the man who led the team to produce billions of yen for the company. During the peak of Covid-19 pandemic, while everyone was busy isolating, this man bravely roamed the office just by himself to generate business.
For two years, he was not able to see his family but he was able to pull through and emerged triumphantly during Covid-19. Another notable behaviour of this wonderful man is his kind and humble nature. Though a man of few words, Mr Honda’s care for the company and its employees is remarkable. That is why this article is solely dedicated to our beloved Mr Honda as he has returned to Japan in October this year.
Truly a person worth remembering in the history of SCOP!
A glimpse of the Philippines through food
It was said that food is a deeply rooted expression of identity, values, and way of life, and that the best way to experience a culture is through its food.
Filipino food is flavourful and comes in a variety of tastes. Most locals, even tourists who visited the country enjoy our food and it is one of the reasons that keep them coming back. Every city in this country has at least one specialty when it comes to food but we narrowed it down and selected some famous food you can look forward to when you visit the Philippines.
