During 20-25 June 2022, Group CEO Mr Keigo Shiomi visited Vietnam to attend various important meetings and events, mainly for the purpose of promoting our projects such as infrastructure development of Da Nang City and North Hanoi Smart City Project.

On 21 June, Mr Shiomi together with Madame Nga – Chairwoman of BRG Group met with two leaders of relevant Governmental Authorities to discuss the possibility of entering into airport development business in Vietnam. The two leaders were Mr Nguyen Ngoc Canh, Vice Chairman of Commission for the Management of State Capital at Enterprise (CMSC), and Mr Nguyen Ngoc Dong, Vice Minister of Ministry of Transport. For both meetings, Ambassador of Japan (AOJ) Mr Yamada and JICA were present.

After those meetings, Mr Shiomi and Madame Nga had a site tour at the North Hanoi Smart City project area together with the Leaders of Dong Anh District where the project site is located. After the site tour, a meeting with those leaders was also held to discuss the progress of the project.

On 24 June, Mr Shiomi and Madame Nga participated in the meeting between Mr Nguyen Van Quang – Secretary of Da Nang city Party Committee and AOJ accompanied by JICA. With the support of Japanese Government, Mr. Shiomi asked Mr Quang to extend further support to Sumitomo and BRG to proceed with the study on infrastructure development of Da Nang City.

Also on 25 June, Da Nang Investment Forum 2022 which was sponsored by BRG Group, was held in Da Nang city with attendance of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh. Mr Shiomi delivered a speech to introduce Sumitomo’s engagement in Vietnam including the ongoing study in Da Nang City. In the forum, Da Nang City People’s Committee awarded Sumitomo and BRG the “Approval for Investment Study” as a commitment of Da Nang City in supporting the study on infrastructure development of Da Nang City which is contained in the MOU signed among Da Nang City, BRG and Sumitomo in November 2021.
