A new normal but won’t last long
I used to wonder about working from home (WFH) by observing a few of my friends from the IT industry who are quite good in performing their jobs remotely.
For me, it was an abrupt shift of life/work routine. However, being a business staff in a multinational organisation, soon I realised that my most important weapons/tools were my cell phone, laptop and an uninterrupted internet connection that helped me to stay connected and perform all activities smoothly regardless of the place (office/home).
I must admit things were not the same for everyone due to dynamics such as marital status, having kids or living together with extended family and availability of facilities at one’s home, which were some significant factors impacting performances.
People started believing WFH is a new normal unless the world gets completely free from COVID-19 and in my opinion, working from home is acceptable but working only from home will not last long.
