SC Scholarship Programme

The SC scholarship programme has been introduced since 1996 as part of its 50th anniversary initiative. Scholarships are awarded to outstanding university students in many Asian countries with the aim of developing future leaders. Here are some examples.  

SCIN

SCIN offers scholarship under its CSR activity programme to undergraduates at 3 colleges in Delhi, Mumbai and Chennai.

The following are our contributions this year.

Delhi

Programme Inception :  1997
Beneficiary :  30 undergraduates in any field at St. Stephen’s College
Date of Scholarship Offer :  17 March   2020.

This time, there was no scholarship ceremony because of Covid-19. SCIN transferred the donation amount to St. Stephen’s account.

Mumbai

Programme Inception :  1998
Beneficiary :  30 undergraduates in any field at Jai Hind College
Date of Scholarship Offer :  13 March 2020

This time, our staff could not attend the scholarship ceremony because of Covid-19. 

Chennai

Programme Inception :  2010
Beneficiary :  15 undergraduates in any field at Loyola College
Date of Scholarship Offer :  2 March 2020

SCAO Dhaka

4 March 2020

SCAO Dhaka offers the SC Scholarship to 40 students of Dhaka University every year. The scholarship amount is US$300 per student per year, adding up to a total of US$12,000 per year.

The Scholarship ceremony was held on 4 March 2020 at Dhaka University. H.E. Ambassador of Japan to Bangladesh, SCAO Dhaka Office GM Mr Ichiro Takahashi and Advisor Mr Ali Ershad attended the ceremony.

SCAO Phnom Penh

23 December 2019

 On 23 December 2019, SCAO Phnom Penh awarded SC scholarship to two universities in Cambodia. One is the Institute of Technology of Cambodia (ITC) and another is the National University of Management (NUM).

The scholarship ceremony of both universities was held on the same day, during which the Vice Rector of each university and our office GM Mr Toshiya Ohnishi delivered a speech respectively. In addition, we held discussions and exchanged ideas with all students.
