SC establishes a new business organisation – Energy Innovation Initiative (EII) in April 2021, which transcends the current framework of business units and aims for next-generation businesses creation, contributing to carbon-neutral society, and serving as a key initiative for implementing the next medium-term management plan.

While energy demand ceaselessly increases with the rising world population and economic growth, the issue of climate change has escalated, and the needs for a sustainable energy cycle have become higher in order to simultaneously achieve environmental burdens reduction and economic growth.

Aiming to create a next-generation business that will contribute to carbon-neutral society, by establishing sustainable energy cycle and achieving decarbonisation, SC will strategically invest management resources such as internal expertise and network to the EII.

Led by Executive Vice President & Head of Energy Innovation Initiative Mr Shingo Ueno, the initiative will hold authority over decision making in each project, and dynamically pursue strategies.

Business Development Unit together with Mineral Resources, Energy Business Unit and Infrastructure Business Unit will share the strategy and information of EII business and create new business in SCAO region.
