SCAO Project Hope Gains Recognition for Corporate Social Responsibility

17 November 2023
Singapore

On 17 November, SCAO was recognised for our outstanding contribution to community services by our CSR partners, Grace Orchard School (GOS) and Association for Persons with Special Needs (APSN).

We have been partnering with GOS for 10 consecutive years, with events ranging from educational outings to the recent sponsorship of STEM courses under the theme of 100SEED. SCAO CEO SG Mr Kwek Jin Saye received a 10-year collaboration award at the GOS Prize Giving and Graduation 2023 ceremony, presented by Mr Lo Chee Wen, representative of GOS school management committee.  Mr Kwek expressed deep gratitude for the recognition and reiterated the company’s commitment to enriching lives and the world.

In the evening on the same day, the Project Hope Team was invited to APSN (Tanglin School) Prize Giving and Graduation Party. CEO SG Mr Kwek was named Guest-of-Honor of the school, where he awarded appreciation tokens to the partners of APSN on behalf.

This is not just a recognition of our past efforts but also a call to action for the future. We are motivated more than ever to continue our work and find new ways to give back to society.

SCAO Project Hope cares for cleaner waterways

14 March 2024
Singapore

On 14 March, 26 volunteers from SCAO set off on a waterway cleanup drive with Waterways Watch Society once again. This was the second consecutive year we held this activity, underscoring the company’s commitment to environmental stewardship and community engagement.

Firstly, Waterways Watch Society walked our volunteers through a brief but highly meaningful talk on water shortage and the impact of waste pollution on sustainability.

After the talk, volunteers grabbed their equipment and split into different teams on 1 pedal-boat and 4 power-boats. Volunteers started fishing out the floating rubbish (such as plastic cans, bags, straws and some ‘funny stuffs’) from the water surface as well as the riversides. Volunteers who were on the pedal-boat worked the hardest as they had to manually pedal the boat while removing the wastes from the water and along the coastline.

Kudos to our volunteers’ efforts, we collected a total of 50kg of waste, breaking our previous year’s record 😊. To our pleasant surprise, the pedal boat team which comprised only 4 members contributed to 14kg of waste collection, equivalent to almost 30% of the entire volume! Well done, everyone!

The event thus ended with a huge sense of fulfilment.
