On behalf of Sumitomo Corporation (SC) Tokyo, SCAO Dhaka Office GM Mr Shinichi Nagata, awarded scholarships to 40 students of University of Dhaka at the award ceremony, which was held on 16 March 2023. This yearly scholarship programme is 100% funded by SC Tokyo.

With its glorious journey of more than 100 years, University of Dhaka is the oldest and most renowned public university in Bangladesh. Students from different backgrounds come here for quality education. In a developing country like Bangladesh, higher education is sometimes tough for meritorious students because of poverty, inadequate resources, lack of community involvement, etc.

SCAO Dhaka office has been giving out SC scholarship to 40 students of Dhaka University every year since 1996, to help these underprivileged students, so that they can continue their study without any worries. To-date, we have given out scholarships to more than 1,100 students. Through this programme, we are representing SC to engage in social contribution activities aimed at “Developing the Next Generation of Human Resources who will drive the sustainable development of the Country”. With this ongoing company’s commitment, we are trying our best to support the students in their study and in turn contribute to the development of Bangladesh.
