Despite facing significant challenges in advancing their education due to political and socio-economic instability, Myanmar students are increasingly interested in Japanese education, language, and culture.

To address these challenges and strengthen ties between Japan and Myanmar, SCAO Yangon Office provided scholarships to four students enrolled in EJU (Examination for Japanese University Admission) preparation classes at MAJA Education Centre, a private organisation that offers academic programmes to local youths. The total scholarship amount of USD7,620 will cover full tuition fees for one academic year, from July 2024 to May 2025.

On 21 August 2024, SCAO Yangon Office GM Mr Tomoyasu Shimizu, along with representatives, attended the scholarship awarding ceremony. They engaged with students, teachers, and MAJA committee members to evaluate the scholarship’s effectiveness and strengthen relationships with the community.

We believe this contribution will help address the educational challenges of Myanmar youths, who have the potential to become a vital bridge between Myanmar and Japan in the future.
