Donation to NGOs

NEW Delhi – Janta Rehabilitation Training Centre

The Centre for the visually handicapped, established in 1996, aims to empower and teach the visually handicapped skills, without charges, to lead normal lives and be independent.

We donated musical instruments as requested by the Centre, which hopes to provide employment opportunities in the music industry.
A ceremony was held on 16 February and attended by SCIN Delhi members.

NEW Delhi – Bal Sahyog was established in 1954, to care and protect orphans including helpless, abandoned and neglected children. It aims to protect children’s rights in the socially and economically weaker sections of the society by rescuing them from difficult circumstances.

A ceremony was held on 8 March to commemorate our donations of essential kitchen appliances, children’s gym among others; and attended by SCIN Delhi staff.

Mumbai – NGO Salaam Baalak Trust

This NGO, created in 1989, helps street children in their development and achievement of their goals by facilitating services such as healthcare and education within a carefully managed environment. It is inspired by the unique spirit of Bombay’s street children, who also are the inspiration in Mira Nair’s acclaimed film ‘Salaam Bombay’. We provided basic essentials at the students’ residence for their regular use.

Chennai – NGO Nethrodaya

Nethrodaya provides education, training, support and rehabilitation with board and lodging completely free for the uplifting of the visually impaired and differently abled. It aims to create a conducive environment for nurturing the abilities and talents of the visually impaired by means they would be able to live their lives with a sense of dignity and self-worth as productive members of the society. We donated household items.

SCIN Scholarship

New Delhi

Every year, Sumitomo Scholarship was offered to 30 deserving students.

After 2 years of Covid-19, finally this year, the programme was conducted offline and we could distribute the scholarships at the St. Stephen’s College on 13 April.

Mumbai

Every year, 30 deserving students were selected to receive Sumitomo Scholarship.
The Jai Hind College were still closed in Mumbai due to the ongoing pandemic. So the programme was conducted online on 22 March and attended by Mr Takayuki Kanauchi, Ms Samant Mrudula and members from the college.

Chennai

Every year, 15 deserving students were selected to receive the Sumitomo Scholarship.
This year’s programme was conducted offline and we went to Loyola College for scholarship distribution.

Ceremony was conducted on 29 March and attended by SCIN Chennai members.
