100SEED @ New Delhi
31 January 2024
New Delhi, India
On 31 January 2024, SCIN New Delhi office conducted 2 activities – a career counselling session and a drawing competition for the students of NGO Bal Sahyog.
Bal Sahyog was founded by the late Prime Minister, Smt. Indira Gandhi in 1954. Their aim is to protect the rights of underprivileged children in the society by rescuing them from difficult circumstances, providing them shelter, nutrition, healthcare and education in a conducive environment.
Career counselling session
This counselling session was arranged for the 9th to 12th Grade students. The students had different types of queries like which course of studies they should pursue after graduating from secondary school, or which vocational courses they should select so that they could become financially independent. Some of the students were not keen on studies so they wanted to know what they could do to fulfill their passion in different fields. Our staff members guided the students on their queries, offering perspectives on how they could fulfill their dreams in different fields like Videography, Dance, Chef courses and Painting etc.
Drawing Competition
We organised a drawing competition for students (aged 5 – 17 years old) who stay in the NGO. We also distributed stationery items to the participants and some gifts to the winners. The children were very happy and thankful for this event.
100SEED @ Mumbai
November 2023 & February 2024
Mumbai, India
In the month of November 2023 and February 2024, SCIN Mumbai office conducted 100SEED activities for 2 NGOs, namely Bombay YMCA – Sharan and Bombay YMCA – Andheri.
On the direction from the Supreme Court of India, stating ‘No women or children should be found on the streets without a shelter for the night’, the Bombay YMCA received an opportunity to manage a shelter provided by the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai. The project ‘Sharan’ came into a reality in 2016 with the support from the Rotary Club of Bombay. At present, it houses destitute women and children who are not only given shelter but also trained in vocational skill thus adding value to life.
One of the activities conducted was holding a seminar to improve knowledge on budgeting and saving for the destitute women of Bombay YMCA, Sharan. They are working and earning for their livelihood with dignity, but they do not know how to plan their monthly budget and save their money for a secured future. Our main purpose to conduct this seminar was to educate them in these areas through appropriate planning and budgeting.
The other activity conducted was the donation of digital devices to Bombay YMCA – Andheri. This NGO is a boys’ home that provides shelter and vocational training for underprivileged children.
