New Delhi
Janta Rehabilitation Training Centre – Helping the visually impaired
The Delhi-Janta Rehabilitation Training Centre, established in 1996 is dedicated to the welfare of individuals with visual impairments. Its mission is to enable them to lead normal lives by providing them free skill-based training.
For FY2023, their needs included musical instruments, braille books and papers, teaching aids, orbit reader and plastic cane to make bags. SCIN has made a donation to fulfill these requirements, which would enhance their education quality and thereby optimise their employment opportunities, leading to self-reliant.
Bal Sahyog – Helping orphans and vulnerable children
Bal Sahyog was founded in 1954 with the mission to care for and protect orphaned, helpless, abandoned and neglected children. Their objective is to safeguard the rights of children from socially and economically disadvantaged segments of the society by rescuing them from challenging situations.
For FY2023, their needs included the renovation of the dispensary, installation of a RO water purifier and smart panel. SCIN has made a donation to fulfill these requirements and a ceremony was held on 6 March 2024, attended by former Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) Mr Takuro Horikoshi, Corporate Director Mr Takashi Sakuma, Head of HR Ms Pooja Singh and other SCIN Staff.

Akshaya Chaitanya – Feeding the hungry
Akshaya Chaitanya is a non-profit initiative established by the HKM Charitable Foundation in 2013, aimed at eliminating hunger among vulnerable groups such as children attending public schools and family of patients in public hospitals.
Their programmes include:
Swasthya Ahara Programme: providing free nutritious hot meals to beneficiaries across 5 major government hospitals in Mumbai.
Paushtik Ahara Programme: supporting children studying in School on Wheels, which addresses malnutrition and serves as a compelling incentive for underprivileged children to enroll and consistently attend the educational programme.
Bal Shiksha Ahara Programme: is a free breakfast initiative focused on providing hot and nutritious breakfast to the underprivileged children of Municipal Schools in Mumbai, aimed at promoting their optimal growth and development.
For FY2023, there was a requirement for 110 distribution containers. These containers are essential for the transportation and distribution of hot meals to students in public schools. The provision of these meals serves as an incentive for students to attend school regularly and gain access to education.
The ceremony was held on 15 April 2024 and it was attended by Mr Amit Desai and Ms Mrudula Samant from SCIN.
Chennai
Sri Arunodayam Charitable Trust – Improving living condition for the intellectually challenged
Sri Arunodayam Charitable Trust, established in 2002, is a residential and rehabilitation home for abandoned children with intellectual disabilities. It commits to lifelong care for these children by providing permanent shelter, nutritious food, medical care and rehabilitation through special education and therapies. This enables the disabled children to lead meaningful lives and integrates them into society at their own pace.
For FY2023, the NGO has identified a need for customised cots with inbuilt mattresses. These are intended for their young adult boys with intellectual challenges and unique medical needs.
SCIN’s donation ceremony was held on 15 March 2024, and it was attended by Chennai Office GM Mr Kazumasa Imai and other office members.
