SCMY Cleans Up River in Collaboration with Sumitomo Group Companies

We conducted a river cleaning activity in Rembau, Negeri Sembilan on 22 Feb 2025 as part of our CSR activity. This marks the fourth CSR activity since 2023 conducted jointly with Sumitomo group companies namely Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation Malaysia (SMBC) and SMFL Leasing Malaysia (SMFL). There were altogether 20 volunteers participated. We collected approximately 146kg of waste within 2 hours at the Timun River. The waste collected were plastic materials, fabric, electrical items, paper, among others. The waste were sorted out into different types, packed and handed over to the event organiser for proper management such as recycling.
Previous years’ CSR activities included donations of office equipment to orphanages, cultural exchange events, painting contests, and T-shirt donations co-created with children from the orphanages.
SCMY will continue to engage in CSR activities either independently or in collaboration with Sumitomo group companies. Through these activities, we aim to further contribute to the local community and the environment, striving to realise a sustainable future.
