Mr Kozo To, President and CEO of SCTL, has been elected as the new President of the Japanese Chamber of Commerce, Bangkok (JCC) for the 2024-2025 term. This election took place during JCC’s Annual General Meeting held on 26 April 2024 at InterContinental Bangkok. This marks the second occasion a SCTL President and CEO has been honoured with this prestigious position.

The JCC, founded in 1954, has been instrumental in supporting Japanese joint-venture companies, fostering Japan-Thailand business relations and promoting harmonious integration with Thai society. Currently, it is the second-largest overseas Japanese Chamber of Commerce in the world, boasting 1,639 member companies as of April 2024. This year, the JCC celebrates its 70th anniversary, a testament to its enduring legacy and contributions.

The JCC’s structure comprises 47 Board of Executive Directors, 16 Business Divisions (by sector), 23 Committees (in various fields), and an Economic Research Group, which works closely with government offices and economic agents. The JCC’s mission is to foster trade, industry, and economic development between Japan and Thailand, facilitate interactions and friendships among members and provide valuable assistance and advice.

As President, Mr To will oversee the Chamber’s activities, represent it in external engagements and negotiations, and spearhead initiatives to enhance the business climate for Japanese companies in Thailand. Following his election,  Mr To participated in a meeting on 15 May 2024 with the Joint Foreign Chambers of Commerce in Thailand (JFCCT) which represents foreign businesses and facilitates interactions among 34 foreign chambers and 9,000 member companies in Thailand.

In its 70th year, the JCC extends gratitude to Thai political and business circles, individuals, and member companies for their support. The anniversary will be commemorated with a memorial event, publication, and social contribution, embracing the slogan of ‘70 Years Together, Connecting to the Future.’ Under Mr To’s leadership, the JCC is poised to strengthen its pivotal role in nurturing economic growth and collaboration between Japan and Thailand.
