Tet holiday – “Tet” reunions

In the middle of February, I have experienced the longest holiday of the year – Tet, a festival which is so special and meaningful to every Vietnamese, to reunite with families and relax after a stressful year.

My family did several activities for Tet preparation including cleaning our house, vesting our altar with a five-fruit tray, and decorating our lovely house with lots of seasonal flowers (apricot blossoms, marigolds, etc.). My favourite traditional foods in Tet are “Banh Tet” (sticky cylindrical cake), and “Thit kho hot vit” (braised pork belly with duck egg).

The best part of this occasion that youngsters enjoy is, receiving Lucky money from their relatives, wearing Ao Dai – our gorgeous traditional dress and visiting pagodas to wish for the best.

After all, Tet means a lot to me.
