Sesame Candy: A Sweet Vietnamese Treat

SCVN-HCMC members enjoying Nam Dinh sesame candy together

After living many years in Ho Chi Minh City, I returned to my hometown in Nam Dinh province during the recent Lunar New Year holidays. During this trip, I have rediscovered a local delicacy, which is sesame candy.

This is a type of snack made from sesame seeds, malt syrup and sugar. Sesame candy boasts a crunchy nutty flavour that is not overly sweet, making it an ideal treat for those who do not like cloying desserts.

I was so taken with it that I brought some back to share with my office members. It was a hit! Everyone enjoyed the unique flavour and the satisfying crunch. Sesame candy is quite popular in Vietnam, but the above one made in Nam Dinh province is truly special. If you ever have the chance to visit this place, I highly recommend trying sesame candy. It is a true taste of local culture and a delicious treat you will not soon forget.
