24 November 2023
Jakarta, Indonesia
In line with the company’s commitment to providing quality education to the community, this time SSRI continued its step to deliver a seminar to university students. This sharing is about the implementation of good values in daily work life.
Trisakti School of Management University (TSM) as an educational institution realises the importance of character values for their students, and they introduced D’Ethics (Discipline, Excellence, Tolerance, Humanity, Integrity, and Competence) as their internal values which are similar to our company’s values.
This seminar is a collaboration between TSM and SSRI to provide insights to the students on how they can implement values of Discipline, Excellence, Tolerance, Humanity, Integrity, and Competence in the world of work. Discipline is a bedrock for success, helping individuals navigate challenges and maintain focus on their objectives. Integrity is one of the key pillars of leadership. Excellence and competence also enhance their performance and elevate individual and team achievement. Tolerance and humanity align with our DE&I program, which is very much needed in the workplace. It is proven that workplaces that embrace diversity are more innovative, adaptable, and resilient. We encourage the students to always implement these values in daily life which will enhance their career development in the future.
The seminar was held on 24 November 2023 and attended by almost 200 students. A total of 7 employees from BU and CU were involved in realising the event.
Launch of Ehon project for children to improve literacy and creativity

Jakarta, Indonesia
SSRI proudly launched the Ehon (picture book in Japanese language) Project on 27 January 2024 in Taman Ismail Marzuki, Jakarta. The event was attended by Charge d’Affaires Ad Interim Embassy of Japan, SSRI’s group companies, leaders and some private companies’ leaders, and pre-school students.
Nowadays, many children in Indonesia enjoy more on gadgets instead of reading books. According to UNESCO, Indonesian literacy level is just 0.01%. Based on this finding, we are concerned about children’s interest in reading books. Hence, we took the initiative to raise their interest in reading books by launching the Ehon Project. This project was influenced by the admirable achievement of the Ehon Project of SCVN in Vietnam, looking up to their groundbreaking work as a guiding light for us in shaping our Ehon Project in Indonesia.
The question is, why Ehon? As we know, many things will be digitalised, and robots would eventually replace humans in many jobs in the near future. What will make Humans and Robots different is ‘creativity’! Robots will only do what has been set, while humans can do many things with imagination and creativity. As we know, most Japanese Children’s books do not give closure at the end of the story, which is beneficial for the children as it sparks curiosity, stimulates their imagination and creativity.
Our primary purpose of the Ehon Project is to increase literacy rate in Indonesia. We also want parents to be more aware of the importance of reading. We believe if the parents read stories to the children at an early age in a consistent and interesting way, it could increase children’s interest in reading books and strengthen the bond between parents and children.
In the first printing of our Ehon Project, SSRI launched 3 book titles with a total of 3000 exemplars. The titles of the books are “Bibit Biru Langit,” “Si Gajah Jalan – Jalan,” and “Kereta Datang Enggak, ya?”. The books will be donated to schools, orphanages, children’s hospitals, and libraries. We are also concerned about the sustainability of this project; hence we welcome donation from those who wish to contribute to this project, and will exchange the donation with the books.
During the event, attendees and students were having a great time enjoying the read-aloud, singing and theatre sessions. We hope that our project could give a fruitful impact to society. There will be more books being translated and reading events held in the future.
