SSRI prepares for post-COVID era!

Contributed by Ms Aurora Sutopo, General Affairs Dept, SSRI

Indonesia is one of the countries substantially impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Being ranked at 14th position globally impacted by COVID-19 (according to statistics as at 26 July 2021), with a total population of approximately 270 million people, it is quite a huge challenge for Indonesia government to navigate through this difficult time.

SSRI, as one of the companies operating in Indonesia under the direction of SSRI Office GM Mr Hiroshi Karashima, tries to boost the company’s ability to continue its operations in the midst of the pandemic. At the same time, it maximises its effort in preventing its members from suffering from the virus.

Establishing PCR and Antigen Test Centre in the Building

From early June 2021, SSRI started the trial on conducting COVID-19 PCR and antigen test in our office building, Summitmas. Available two days a week on every Monday and Thursday, this facility provides easier access for Summitmas tenants to take the test to minimise the risk of virus spreading. This facility is designed to provide an assurance of a negative COVID-19 result and not meant to determine whether it is a positive case for a person who already shows symptoms, or is a close contact.

Pioneer Participant in the Mutual Cooperation Vaccination Programme

In accelerating the COVID-19 vaccination of the population in the country, Indonesia government set out two schemes of vaccination programme:

  1. free vaccination provided by government
  2. paid vaccination through the companies in Indonesia who want to provide vaccine to their employees and families. This programme is called Gotong Royong Vaccination (Mutual Cooperation Vaccination)

SSRI is one of the first companies to register for the Gotong Royong Vaccination programme. This programme was initiated by Indonesia Chambers of Commerce, where SSRI is one of the members. The company’s early registration to this programme demonstrates the company’s strong willingness to support government’s programme in speeding up the vaccination to its hundreds-of-millions citizens.

In June 2021, SSRI succeeded in completing the vaccination for some of its members and their families. Ninety employees and families have completed the vaccination at this point of time. The members’ high enthusiasm and excitement can be seen in the below pictures (taken during second-dose of vaccination). The 2nd vaccination for additional number of employees and families had also been carried out smoothly within the month of June 2021.

By doing these passionately, SSRI shows its readiness to continue its activities even with the on-going pandemic. We will enthusiastically endeavour to live the new way of life with COVID-19, even after the pandemic is over!
