The Positives and Negatives of WFH
Positives
Quarantine has allowed me to experiment with new habits. And I want to keep some of these going, even after COVID-19 dies down. One of them is, spending more time in the nature with my family. I have spent more time with my family in the last few months than the previous years. We went out together multiple times to a neighborhood park to catch crayfish.
I want to continue staying in this less distracted retreat in nature and enjoying the time with my son, because it can calm me down and set me thinking, “The world is a scary place right now, and just living another day is excellent enough”.
Negatives
Working from home (WFH) is a good option to have, but not best. I have realised this while WFH. Many people told me that we could do as many jobs as possible and equally good, both at home and at office, so things would be okay. When I heard that, I thought it could be true especially with tools like WebEx and Lync. However, I was wrong. How wrong…
Some time ago, I had a chance to talk with my client in Dhaka, and I heard cars honking in the background amidst the heavy traffic there, at Dhaka. Hearing that, I felt the positive energy of Bangladeshis wanting to build and grow their country. Strange to say, I love and am missing tremendously my office, colleagues and Dhaka (my second home).
